Dokodweni murder-accused back in court

The teenage suspect is accused of raping and murdering a Grade 5 learner

THE bail hearing of a teen accused of the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl of Dokodweni area, was postponed to Friday.

The suspect, aged 17, appeared at the Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court a week ago for a formal bail application and was remanded in police custody.

He is accused of raping and killing Gingindlovu grade 5 learner, Amanda Mthembu, who went missing on Sunday, 14 June after she had visited her mother’s family in Mbizimbelwe Reserve.

Her body was found buried in a shallow grave in a sugar cane plantation in the Dokodweni area on 21 June during a police search.
