Swapping the tyres at set intervals can spread this wear over a longer period of time, providing the motorist with maximum tyre value by getting the most use from the tread.
It’s possible to swap tyres according to a time frame – every 10 000km or every three months – but a visual inspection of tyre tread is important.
When the tread wear starts to look uneven, with thicker tread on one side of the tyre than the other, a swap might be required.
Many tyre sales shops will do a tyre rotation, which takes about five minutes.
It is possible to rotate tyres at home, but this will take a bit longer.
