Weekend celebrations on the cards

Enjoy the weekend by celebrating three funky holidays

TODAY is ‘Friyay’, and this weekend is extra special because we’re celebrating three special days, starting with Creamsicle Day!

This unofficial holiday has unknown origins, but is generally honoured with a delicious ice cream – traditionally vanilla ice cream covered with iced orange juice.

In recent years, creative ice cream makers have replaced the outer orange fruit juice layer with other flavours, like blueberry, strawberry and grape.

Celebrate Creamsicle Day by treating yourself to an ice cream, or get adventurous and create your own ice cream-inspired treat.

Then, Saturday is a time to chill as we celebrate Relaxation Day.

This laid-back holiday is a reminder that it’s okay to take a deep breath and slow down.

This not only feels good, but can have long-term health benefits too.

Celebrate by putting your feet up and relaxing; visiting a spa; playing a round of golf; enjoying a picnic; or just taking the time to digitally detox.

Then we’ll end the weekend’s celebrations with ‘Tell-a-Joke-Day’ on Sunday.

This unofficial holiday was designed to make the world a happier place with a joke – much-needed during the current pandemic.

So brush up on your favourite jokes this Sunday, watch a comedy show, or play a harmless prank.
Make this weekend one to celebrate!
