Speaking at a media briefing in Durban last week, Premier Sihle Zikalala said despite all efforts, KZN has reported the highest rate of new infections countrywide since the start of August.

‘These worrying figures call for each of us to play our part now,’ said Zikalala.

‘We want to sound the alarm that we are in the storm, and on the verge of becoming the epicentre of this deadly pandemic.

‘This literally means many more people are getting infected, and many more may die – if we don’t change our behaviour.’

He encouraged everyone to wear masks, wash or sanitise hands regularly, and maintain social distancing.
