Call for iSimangaliso public participation
The IMP sets out the parameters for the conservation and protection of the world heritage values

THE iSimangaliso Wetland Park (iWP) Authority has made its Integrated Management Plan (IMP) available for public review, comment and input until 31 October.
The IMP is a strategic framework plan for decision making that has been drafted in terms of the World Heritage Convention Act 1999 and the South African National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, 2003.

The IMP sets out the parameters for the conservation and protection of the world heritage values, and the integration of conservation, tourism development, and the local economic development of historically disadvantaged communities in and adjacent to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.
It provides integrated management tools for iSimangaliso, including spatial planning measures that include zonation.
This IMP builds upon the previous 2017 – 2021 IMP and seeks to update and review it to provide a revised 10-year strategic management plan for the period 2022 – 2031.

The draft IMP report is available on the website: https://indaloenhle.co.za/ under the ‘Our Projects’, ‘iSimangaliso Integrated Management Plan’ link.
The report is available at a number of public venues, including the Hluhluwe public library, Manguzi public library, north uThungulu public library, the Bangizwe Educational Centre, Manguzi resource centre, Mtubatuba library, St Lucia public library and Mbazwana library.
Owing to the closure of public libraries, printed copies of the report have been made available at the iSimangaliso Wetland Park offices at the Dredge Harbour, St Lucia, Manguzi Education Centre, Mbazwana Education Centre, Bangizwe Education Centre and the Richards Bay library.
The iWP calls on the public to register as interested and affected parties, and to submit written comments to Indaloenhle Environmental Consulting at email info@indaloenhle.co.za or ljilimane@indaloenhle.co.za, or call 031 0034241.
