Covid-19: South Africa drops to seventh globally in total cases
Globally, South Africa has dropped to seventh in the world for the total number of Covid-19 cases and has dropped out of the top ten, to 13th in the world, for total number of active cases
WITH active cases continuing to drop and recoveries actively rising, South Africa is making its way out of the global top 10 of Covid-19 statistics.
Recoveries in South Africa have surpassed the half-million mark while active cases remain below 70 000.

By yesterday (Thursday) evening, the country’s total recoveries were 553 456 while active cases were 62 750.
The total number of cases was 630 595.
In the 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday morning, recoveries had increased by 3 463 while deaths had increased by 126.
Globally, South Africa has dropped to seventh in the world for the total number of Covid-19 cases and has dropped out of the top ten, to 13th in the world, for total number of active cases.
At one stage, South Africa was number five in the world for both.
Across the globe, the total number of Covid-19 cases has risen to 26 286 878, recoveries have risen to 18 531 120 and the death rate is 869 219.
While this is positive news, South Africans are urged to continue following regulations including social distancing, sanitising and the wearing of masks, particularly as lockdown restrictions become more relaxed under lockdown Level 2.
