SA drops to 8th place for Covid-19 active cases
While the steady decrease in cases is positive news, South Africans are urged to continue following regulations including social distancing, sanitising and the wearing of masks despite the relaxation of some lockdown restrictions
SOUTH Africa’s active Covid-19 cases have been in steady decline since 21 July – considered the country’s peak – and are now under the 60 000 mark.
Recoveries are continuing to rise, heading towards 600 000.

As of this (Friday) morning at 10am, the South African Covid-19 stats are as follows:
Total confirmed cases: 644 438 (8th in the world)
Total recoveries: 573 003
Total active cases: 56 170
Total death rate: 15 265
Total number of tests done: 3 863 453

Highest number of cases:
1. USA with more than 6-million cases
2. India with 4.5-million cases
3. Brazil with 4.2-million cases
Lowest number of cases:
Anguilla, a series of small islands in the Caribbean, with three cases.

Total number of active cases: 7 076 718
Percentage of serious or critical infections: 1% of total active cases
