Zululanders recall the 9/11 Twin Tower tragedy

Where were you when tragedy struck?

WHEN two aeroplanes were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Centre in New York on 11 September 2001, witnesses to the tragic event knew they were part of history in the making.

Just like when John F Kennedy was killed, those who were alive during 9/11 will always remember where they were and what they were doing on that dreadful day.

On this, the 19th anniversary of the event, the ZO posed the question to Zululanders – Where were you on that tragic day?

Here are some of your responses……

Norma Gevers – ‘I was on holiday at Cango Caves. I was in the pool when a guy called out ‘put the TV on!”

Kwenzakwenkosi Joyful Mhlongo – ‘I was doing my first year in Journalism at DIT/DUT in 2002. We actually got an assignment about it. Time flies’

Fanie Grobler – ‘I had just come back from night shift and saw it on TV’

Mari Lowe – ‘I was at home watching it live on the news with my family’
