Counterfeit footwear haul seized near Mtubatuba, four arrested

It is believed the suspects were coming from Mozambique and driving to Durban

POLICE arrested four suspects for possession of counterfeit goods along the N2 near Zamimpilo in Mfekayi area outside Mtubatuba on Thursday night.

KwaMsane police arrested three women and a man, all between the ages of 27 and 39 years, for being in possession of counterfeit goods.

Police were conducting a routine patrol when they stopped a suspicious looking vehicle driving southwards.

SAPS uMkhanyakude cluster spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, said the police found 436 pairs of fake Nike footwear, worth more than R100 000.

‘It is believed the suspects were coming from Mozambique and driving to Durban,’ said Captain Mdletshe.

‘All four were arrested and charged for possessing counterfeit goods.’
