Empangeni shooting victim dies

The father of the deceased is still in a critical condition

ONE of the two victims shot during what is believed to have been an armed robbery at SA Bedding in Empangeni on Thursday, has passed away.

Ashlin Moodley (23) succumbed to his gunshot wounds shortly after having been admitted to hospital, while his father, Jay, is still in a critical condition.

The suspected robbery is one of a string of such incidents at Empangeni rail in recent weeks, causing business owners and employees to fear for their lives.

Zululand Business Against Crime is working with SAPS and security companies, and urges anyone with information on the tragedy to come forward.
