SA Covid-19 recovery rate rises
South Africans are urged to continue adhering to Covid-19 regulations including wearing masks, sanitising regularly and social distancing
WHILE this week saw South Africa breach the 18 000 mark in Covid-19 deaths, it also saw the country’s recoveries rise to almost 630 000, with South Africa dropping out of the top 10 globally for the total number of identified cases, now sitting at 11th.
South African Covid-19 stats, as of Friday morning:
Total identified cases: 698 184
Total recoveries: 628 301
Active cases: 51 574
Deaths: 18 309

Since yesterday morning, South Africa’s total cases have risen by 1 770 while our active cases rose by 209, recoveries by 1 403 and deaths by 158.
Global Covid-19 states, as of Friday morning:
Total identified cases: 39 186 832
Total recoveries: 29 386 109
Active cases: 8 697 612 (1% are serious or critical cases)
Closed cases: 30 489 220
Total deaths: 1 103 111 (4%)
While South Africa’s active cases have been fluctuating since the implementation of Level 1 lockdown rather than decrease on a daily basis as they were prior to Level 1, they are not rising exponentially and remain under control.
This being said, there are concerns over a second wave, particularly in Gauteng.
As the government extended the national State of Disaster for another month, South Africans are urged to continue adhering to Covid-19 regulations including wearing masks, sanitising regularly and practising social distancing.
