Much more support needed to complete Mandlazini multi-purpose centre
Once complete, the facility will have a training centre which will provide skills development to the youth of Mandlazini and uMhlathuze
PROGRESS is being made with the construction of a multi-purpose centre in Mandlazini.
The centre is being built by non-profit organisation, Beautiful Pillars Foundation, through donations of, among others, the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ).

Construction, which began in 2017, has been moving at a slow pace because of a lack of building materials.
‘Through the help of the RBIDZ which donated bricks and other material, we have managed to get to roof level, but are now in desperate need of donations to complete the structure,’ said founder of Beautiful Pillars Foundation, Nonhlanhla Ngonyama.
Once complete, the facility will have a training centre which will provide skills development to the youth of Mandlazini and uMhlathuze, and will also boast an orphanage as well as a day child care facility.
‘At this point, we are in need of support from anyone who can donate material to install the roof. We also need help with electricity installation, plumbing and furniture.
‘Clothing, toys and blanket donations for the children are also welcome. We want to complete this project and get this centre up and running for the benefit of the community,’ said Ngonyama.
She said the centre will help change the lives of many young people.
‘We have hosted skills development programmes in the community, but had no facility to equip the youth in the right way.
‘Many of the youth are unemployed and many of them have children,’ said Ngonyama.
‘The centre will therefore allow them to still take charge of their future despite their circumstances.
‘The benefit of having the child care facility in the completed centre will allow young mothers and fathers to participate in the skills development programmes while their children are being taken care of,’ she said.
