WATCH: Overturned truck blocks highway in Richards Bay

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver is okay and is being transferred to hospital by ambulance

TRAFFIC on the eastbound carriageway of the John Ross came to a standstill earlier this (Friday) morning after a side-tipper truck overturned at the Alton intersection.

The truck had turned left from Alton onto the John Ross and overturned, spilling much of its load onto the road.

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver is okay, and was treated on scene by paramedics before being transferred to hospital.

While the incident did not occur during peak rush hour, traffic was heavily disrupted as one lane had to be closed off by traffic officials who were quick to arrive on scene.
