Richards Bay’s Saligna road almost ready for reopening

Repairs to the burst water pipe are complete and the hole has been filled

THE reopening of Saligna road in Arboretum is imminent as all repairs to the burst water pipe are complete, the hole has been filled and tarring has begun today (Thursday).

Saligna road has been closed to motorists since 2 November after a major water pipe burst and subsequent sinkhole.

This was the second major water pipe burst and sinkhole along this main water line in recent months, with the first being in July at the Ysterhout and North Central Arterial intersection.

That intersection was closed for about six weeks while repairs took place.

Water outages related to the burst pipe have plagued residents of Arboretum Extension in recent weeks, with electricity also affected while work was being carried out on the water pipe.
