Help to find Sizwe Mpanza

He was last seen on 16 November at St Lucia's Jabula Beach

THE search continues for 24-year-old Sizwe Mpanza, a mentally-handicapped resident of Gunjane Reserve near Mtubatuba, who went missing from St Lucia’s Jabula Beach at around midnight on 16 November.

‘Sizwe was visiting us on the Sunday afternoon when I received a phone call from his brother, Sbu, asking me to accompany him to the beach to fetch sea water,’ recalled Sizwe’s cousin, Msawenkosi Mpanza (33).

‘When Sbu arrived late in the afternoon, we just chatted, and at about 11.45pm on the Sunday, we headed to the beach and Sizwe joined us.

When we arrived, Sizwe decided to remain in the car.’ Msawenkosi said that when they returned to the car, they discovered Sizwe was missing, and the back passenger door and driver’s door were both left wide open.

‘We looked for him everywhere, but we could not find him,’ he continued. ‘Even the security working at the beach did not see him. We have searched everywhere for him, with no luck.’

Mtubatuba police spokesperson, Captain Justice Hlabisa, said a missing person’s docket was registered in Mtubatuba, and is under investigation.

‘We urge anyone, who might have information about his whereabouts, to contact Detective Captain Themba Mnyandu on 035 5506114 or on 079 5001468,’ said Hlabisa.
