Protestors block R34 with stolen trucks

King Cetshwayo SAPS spokesperson Captain Mdlalose told the ZO that community members forcefully removed the trucks’ keys before fleeing the scene.

THE R34 between Nkwaleni and Melmoth remains closed since 5am today, after protestors blocked entry with three trucks that had been travelling on the road earlier.

King Cetshwayo SAPS spokesperson Captain Mdlalose told the ZO that community members forcefully removed the trucks’ keys before fleeing the scene.

‘The reason they are protesting is related to a murder that took place in the area last week.

‘Three men went to Melmoth SAPS and handed themselves over for the crime.

‘The community is now demanding that those three men be released but it is unclear why at this stage.’
