Don’t allow Covid to spoil the romance – lock down your love this Valentine’s Day

LOCKDOWN restrictions will no doubt be with us for quite some time longer.

With the country remaining at lockdown Level 3, it is not just the restriction of movement and economic activity causing us grief, but even romantic liaisons are suffering.

But we must be resourceful. Just because our movements are restricted and we are advised against dining out, doesn’t mean we can’t keep the spark alive in our relationships.

Here are some creative date night ideas to especially take note of as Valentine’s Day approaches.

Alternatively, if your love is far away or if you just want to surprise him/her with a special message, why not take part in the ZO’s special lockdown Signed, Sealed & Delivered offering this Valentine’s Day?

Simply click on the image below to order your love letter which will be sent to that special someone on 14 February.

Romantic date night ideas:

Restaurant at home – The traditional dinner date at a fancy restaurant is out of bounds with the high risk of being infected, but that doesn’t mean you can’t set a dinner date. There are ways you can still enjoy the romance of this date activity in the comfort of your own home. Choose a recipe to cook together and start your date as you begin cooking your dish (this can also be done via video call if you are apart because of self-isolation). This is a fun and interactive way of getting to know one another before sitting down to enjoy your meal. It’s also worth looking online to see if your favourite restaurant has recipes available for you to recreate at home. If you want an easier option, then you could go for a take-away, but set some mood lighting and dress up the table to pretend that you are having a meal out.

Games night – Fun doesn’t stop just because the world is topsy-turvy. If you want an interesting way to really get to know one another online, then try doing a personality quiz. Ask each other the questions and get a deeper insight into each other’s characters.  Add a new dynamic and organise a virtual quiz with another couple too.
Organising rounds of games over multiple sessions is also a fun way to introduce more of a competitive element that will, in turn, provide lots of sustained opportunities for joking around together.

Happy hour – Missing those boozy nights out with your other half? What about those coffee dates?
It can be hard to switch off from everyday life, however, agreeing on a happy hour with your date or partner is a great way to ensure you both have the opportunity to unwind and spend quality time together without distractions. Whether you are living together or apart, diarise a time you can both look forward to, even if it’s just a cup of tea together.
