WATCH: Massive water leak at Eco Junction alongside John Ross highway

Municipal team is working to solve the problem

A BURST pipe at the Eco Junction alongside the John Ross Highway this morning (Thursday), resulted in the loss of much water, as well as flooding of the immediate vicinity.

The pipe next to the guardhouse is reportedly an ongoing issue, as there are a number of bends in the system that must handle the pressure pushing through on a daily basis.

An uMhlathuze Municipality team arrived at 6.30am to assess the situation and is currently working on it.

The team plans to first drain the flooded manhole to access the valve in order to turn off the water supply before repair work can begin.

Water supply to Tangawizi Motors, Melomed Richards Bay Private Hospital and BP John Ross will not be affected, as the reservoir is full enough to supply water for a day-and-a-half.
