Community members are invited and urged to support this initiative, by not only showing solidarity but by supporting the worthy cause.

THE Zululand Observer recently decided to sell special black ribbons to commemorate the day (26 March 2020) that life changed forever, owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Community members are invited and urged to support this initiative, by not only showing solidarity but by supporting the worthy cause.

Ribbons will be sold at R10 each, with all proceeds going towards the Zululand Observer’s charity arm, DICE.

Over the past year, DICE has helped numerous institutions and families during very tough times, and this fundraiser will go a long way in enabling DICE to continue being of assistance in the local community.

‘The community has been so supportive of this fundraising campaign and as a result have far exceeded our expectations, with 2 300 ribbons being sold thus far,’ said Zululand Observer Office Manager Kerry Krige.

‘I just sincerely want to thank those that have bought a ribbon, as well as Emprint for getting on board with us in order to make this happen.

‘I just want to encourage more people to come out and support this initiative as we count the days down to 26 March.’

Black ribbons will be sold at the Zululand Observer offices in 3 Baines Road, Empangeni.

Companies and schools are encouraged and welcome to make bulk purchases to sell amongst staff and learners.

As a means of thank you for your support, the ZO will publish the names of everyone who purchases a black ribbon in a special Covid-19 – One Year Later feature, inside the ZO Weekend edition dated 26 March.

Contact Kerry Krige on 035 7990500 or zopa@zob.co.za to order the special black ribbons.
