New anti-poaching unit fights for wildlife

THREE suspected poachers were arrested last weekend when new anti-poaching unit Zululand Wildlife Crime Operations began operations on the Mhlathuze River.

As Mhlathuze River is one of the hardest-hit poaching areas, efforts to deter illegal activities were heightened as fish use the area to spawn.

As a new group, Zululand Wildlife Crime Operations aims to expand its volunteer services into different areas, and is working on generating income for the operations.
