‘We reassure our stakeholders that we have put in place continuity measures that will safeguard against any interruption in the supply of bulk water and related services during the picket action,’ said Mhlathuze Water spokesperson, Siyabonga Maphumulo.
‘We wish to further state that while the union has not been explicit in spelling out its list of demands besides citing what it calls human resources issues, Mhlathuze Water remains open to engaging with them in order to more fully understand and respond to their demands within the shortest possible time.’
Maphumulo has urged employees who will be part of the picket action to respect Covid-19 prevention protocols, as well as the guidelines of the Labour Relations Act and to not interfere with the ability of non-picketing employees to continue their duties
