WATCH: Community opposes bail for alleged gang rapists

Gobandlovu community protest outside eSikhawini Magistrate's Court

Angry Gobandlovu residents flocked to the eSikhawini Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to hear the outcome of a bail hearing of two men charged with raping a 13-year-old girl last month.

To make their voices heard, residents held placards and protested outside the building.

They were united in opposing bail for the perpetrators.

The men were arrested after the young victim identified them as her abusers who locked her in a rental cottage and continuously raped her through the night.

The victim is currently under counselling and is staying at a place of safety in Ngwelezana.

The two alleged perpetrators will remain in police custody until their next bail appearance, on Thursday, 6 May.
