WATCH: Big shock for Richards Bay angler

The incident did not deter Chris Botha from continuing his day's fishing

WHEN Chris Botha went fishing with friends at the Steel Bridge in Richards Bay on Tuesday morning, little did he know what a shock – literally – awaited him.

They had walked across to the western bank of the canal close to the Carina sub-station and Mhlathuze Water pump station, and threw a line into the water.

‘I walked barefoot towards my friend and stepped onto an exposed electricity cable that runs from the sub-station across the bottom of the canal to the opposite side.

‘Next thing I remember is a flash of light and being flung backwards about six metres, landing flat on my back,’ said Chris.
