Upper north coast waters an angling gold mine

Sodwana and Cape Vidal have been the place to be for anglers

SODWANA Bay and Cape Vidal have been fishing hot spots over the past week, for both deep sea and rock and surf anglers, owing to fish variety and quantity on offer.

For those working the deeper waters, couta has been at the top of the menu.

Live bait has been the most successful method for the couta, although some have claimed the shiny walla-walla to be the best of the best.

Either way you slice it, down-rigged baits have been the most productive.

Rock and surf anglers have had their hands full with more summer time kingfish, with those throwing lures or flies having achieved the most consistent kingfish catches.

Guys working the gullies and rocky areas around Ballito have got stuck into some nice-sized bronze bream.

Inedible action this past week has been quiet.
