As CANSA looks forward to celebrating International Cancer Survivors’ Day on 6 June with cancer patients and loved ones, it wants to showcase the courage of cancer survivors and highlight the benefit of support from fellow survivors throughout this journey.

The organisation is hoping to have at least 90 stories submitted in celebration of CANSA’s 90th anniversary and International Cancer Survivors’ Day. The collection of stories submitted by patients who have been helped by CANSA will feature on their website – www.cansa.org.za – throughout June.

CANSA’s Head of Service, Gerda Strauss said everyone knows how powerful a personal testimony can be.

‘This is especially so with cancer survivors,’ said Strauss.

‘Their stories of how they dealt with diagnosis, treatment and life after treatment can give hope to others who have just begun their cancer journey.

‘Reading their stories, other patients and caregivers feel understood and no longer alone.’ Stories can be submitted to https://cansa.org.za/cancer-stories-of-hope-cansa90 Alternatively, email info@cansa.org.za or call CANSA’s toll-free help desk on 0800 226622.
