Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park fence not destroyed in current protest action

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has reassured communities that Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park’s fence remains intact and has not been destroyed by current ongoing protest action.

The conservation authority said a video circulating on various social media platforms, sparking fear and panic among community members, was in fact taken in May.

‘It was taken by Ezemvelo on 12 May during protest action by the community of Biliya,’ said Ezemvelo spokesperson Musa Mntambo.

While infrastructure has been destroyed across the country by angry protesters demanding the release from prison of former president Jacob Zuma, Mntambo said Ezemvelo has not yet experienced any damage to property at its parks.
