Spar vows to keep supply going
'We are getting deliveries from suppliers, and are committed to keep going', says local Spar franchise owner
Local Spar franchise owner Harry Giannacopoulos has assured residents within the City of uMhlathuze that food and other grocery items will be continuously restocked to ensure shoppers have all the essentials they need.
This as hundreds of residents flocked to various Spar shops across the city on Wednesday, queuing for hours to buy much-need essentials following the recent unrest and looting.

‘We are opening all shops at 8.30am and closing when we need to in order to manage stock replenishment.
‘We are getting deliveries from suppliers, and are committed to keep going,’ said Giannacopoulos.

The multi-store owner expressed gratitude to the community who came out in their numbers during the unrest, to guard the stores against any destruction or looting.
‘A big thank you to the public for supporting us, and also for spending hours waiting in queues for us to open.
‘We still need ongoing support from our community, to take shifts in protecting the sites so we can serve all customers,’ he said.
