KZN premier encourages people to vaccinate

KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala has called on every citizen in the province to get vaccinated.

Making the plea on Tuesday in Mtubatuba during a vaccination roll-out at the Inkosi Mzondeni Hall, he said about 200 vaccination centres had been made available across the province.

He urged the public to register on the electronic vaccination data system.

Zikalala was vaccinated during his visit, and became one of the 1 186 562 people who have been vaccinated in the province since February.

He reiterated government’s concerns about the reluctance of some senior citizens to get vaccinated, and urged them to change their attitude.

‘In uMkhanyakude,at least, we have surpassed the target for those in the age category of 60 years old and above.

‘As we will soon start vaccinating the youth, we request young people to bring along their parents and grandparents.

‘It is a responsibility we all have. We must protect our lives and those of our loved ones,’ Zikalala said.

Mtubatuba Mayor Thobelani Ncamphalala, together with other community leaders, was also vaccinated.

‘The mayors, councillors and traditional leadership have been very helpful in spreading the message and encouraging people to be vaccinated,’ said Zikalala.
