THE National Freedom Party (NFP) has encouraged looters to voluntarily return all electrical appliances that were stolen during the riots in KZN and Gauteng two weeks ago.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the party said it has witnessed heavily-armed police officers accompanied by soldiers conducting raids in hostels and at houses, searching for goods believed to have been looted.

‘We have noticed the law enforcement agencies demanding slips. We, therefore, urge residents to voluntarily return all goods that were looted. All electrical appliances must be returned.’
The NFP did, however, discourage looters from returning food items stolen during the unrest.
‘Food, no matter how it ended up in a person’s possession, should not be returned. After all, we have been informed that all goods that are returned and collected would be destroyed.’
The party went on to say that it is advisable for people not to resist law enforcement agencies searching people’s homes.
