No protest reports in Empangeni and surrounds
According to police, there have been no reports of any protest action in Richards Bay, Empangeni or across the Zululand region, despite threats circulating on social media regarding another KZN - and national - shutdown.
ALL major roads remain open with high police presence in the City of uMhlathuze and beyond.

This morning (Monday), police confirmed that after extensive patrols with a chopper, all areas in and around Empangeni are normal.
Taxi operators have committed to patrolling the streets since the weekend to ensure safety while the police and army are stationed at key points.
As reported this morning, the following major routes are clear and safe to travel:
• R66 eShowe/Gingindlovu/Dokodweni onto N2
• R66 eShowe/Nkwalini/Melmoth towards Vryheid
• R34 Gingindlovu/Mtunzini onto N2
• P50 eShowe/Ntumeni towards Nkandla
• P230 eShowe/Ndlangubo towards Empangeni
• N2 north and south
