In the wake of the accident, Ulundi Mayor Wilson Ntshangase urged livestock owners to safeguard their animals.

‘People need to stop their cattle from roaming the streets, to avoid such accidents,’ he said.

‘Safeguarding livestock will also assist in theft prevention. This accident could have been avoided, had there been no animals on the road.’

Zululand cluster police spokesperson Captain Nkosi Gwala on Thursday said they had no record of the accident at the time.
