WATCH: How local elections impact your life vs national elections

Every vote counts, so make your mark these elections

With the municipal elections scheduled for 1 November, it is important for people to be correctly educated and know how important these elections are, compared with national elections.

Your vote does make a difference. The upcoming elections are vitally important as they hit closer to home, directly impacting the individual’s day-to-day living.

Local elections are held to vote in a local government that will deal with daily issues at a local level such as roads, water, sanitation and municipal service delivery in general.

For example, ensuring roads do not have potholes, that all households have access to clean and running water, and that service delivery is up to standard.

National elections, on the other hand, deal with the party in power bringing in new bills, policies, diplomacy and defence. So local elections impact a person on a personal level.

People are urged to go out and make their mark on voting day, as every vote does make a difference.

Watch below to find out more about how local elections impact your life compared with national elections.
