SANDF warns job seekers about online scam

Beware of criminals offering illegal jobs in the military

The SANDF has warned young job seekers against criminals attempting to lure them with illegal job offers in the name of the military.

Spokesperson Brigadier-General Andries Mahapa said the SANDF has been informed about an advert regarding an SA Army traineeship programme for 2022.

He said according to the information at their disposal, the advert was posted by ‘unprincipled criminals’ using the name of the SA Army.

‘This unrelenting criminal act is viewed as a severe misrepresentation of the SA Army, its badge, and the image of the SANDF.

‘We wish to warn unsuspecting youths not to engage with the scammers on the online link provided in the advert (https://nit .ly/SAarrmy.Application-forms-org.za) as this is not a recognised or legitimate SANDF online platform,’ Mahapa said.

He said when they have vacancies, they issue media statements and use their legitimate social media platforms to announce the start of a recruitment drive, as well as to provide application forms on their website (www.dod.mil.za).

They also advertise in various national newspapers.

‘The SANDF is making an earnest call to the members of those communities who know these perpetrators, to anonymously report their location, names, and activities to their nearest military establishments or the police,’ Mahapa said.
