Underprivileged Mtuba girls assisted through programme

Pushed by the desire to meaningfully impact the lives of the less fortunate, Mbalenhle Banda recently handed over sanitary towels to Grade 6 pupils at Mnotho Primary School in KwaMsane, Mtubatuba, and assisted three pupils from destitute families.

Banda said she had reached out to one of the teachers at the school to assist with identifying three pupils in need of a helping hand.

Banda said 38 sanitary towels were donated to the girls, and that the three who were identified by the teacher received school uniforms and shoes.

She said she chose to lend a helping hand to the pupils at Mnotho Primary because that is where she attended school.

‘I believe it is up to us as community members to help those less fortunate than us, and it is up to us to make a change in society rather than always waiting on the government to do something,’ she said.

Banda said she intends to launch a foundation that would continue with the work of assisting primary and high school learners.

This foundation, she continued, could adopt children where possible and establish a feeding scheme.

‘But it would be great to work with like-minded people, including local businesses; we are all responsible for the society in which we live,’ Banda said.
