Be prepared for planned mass power outage affecting parts of Richards Bay

Work will be carried out on the Polaris, Hercules, Scorpio, Indus and Phoenix substations simultaneously. Click here to see if you will be affected

Much of Richards Bay is set to be plunged into darkness on Sunday as the City of uMhlathuze carries out essential maintenance and repair work.

Originally scheduled for Thursday, the planned power outage will now take place on Sunday, 8 May between 8am and 6pm.

This is so work can be carried out on the Polaris, Hercules, Scorpio, Indus and Phoenix substations simultaneously.

Mandlazini
Aquadene
Wildenweide
Brackenham

The city reminds residents to treat all electrical appliances as live for the duration of the outage.

Electricity will be restored as soon as work is complete.
