Post Office sees increase in car licence renewals

MORE than 3.9 million motor vehicle licences were renewed at Post Office branches nationwide to which the SA Post Office (SAPO) attributes the convenience of renewing a vehicle licence at their facilities.

SRD grant collection points moving to supermarkets has seen all queues at post offices move faster.
Post offices charge no commission and accept card and cash payments; the motorist pays only the amount on the renewal notice.
The post office offers a bulk renewal service for fleet owners as well as a service where it can collect the applications and deliver the licences to the fleet offices.
A flat fee is charged for collection and delivery.
SAPO recently launched an online licence renewal service, with everything, including payment, done online.
Only the collection at a post office branch or delivery to the customer’s address is done physically.
What you will need:
Vehicle owners must show their ID and proof of address when renewing their car licence.
If they did not receive a renewal notice, a blank renewal form can be downloaded from the Post Office website – www.postoffice.co.za
Click on ‘products’, choose ‘domestic’, then ‘vehicle licensing’; this must be filled in before visiting the post office.
