About the programme

The Technology Innovation Support Programme, a collaboration between KZN EDTEA and Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ), focuses on enhancing technology innovation in the Richards Bay Techno Hub, targeting the uMhlathuze Municipality and King Cetshwayo District Municipality in KZN.

Managed by Socikwa Management for RBIDZ, its goal is to support technology innovation through technology commercialisation, market development and venture acceleration. The programme selects 20 participants with projects in areas such as ICT, Renewable Energy, Metallurgy, Mining, Marine Technology, Electronics, Agricultural Technology, and BPO. However, innovations outside these specified focus areas are also eligible for consideration by the selection panel.

Who should apply

We’re looking for individuals/teams with technology-based innovative ideas/concepts/projects. Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or a first-time inventor; if you have a ground-breaking idea that you’re ready to bring to life, this programme is for you! Applicants must be based or registered with institutions within King Cetshwayo District. Selection of participants will be based on the practicality of participating in the programme, considering the implementation mechanisms thereof.
