Mtuba mayor commends municipal stability
Mtuba Mayor Mxolisi Mthethwa praises coalition unity, municipal stability, progress in rebuilding public confidence in local government.
MTUBATUBA Mayor Mxolisi Mthethwa has commended Council, the municipal manager and employees for the stability and progress achieved during the current term.
“No council has been able to finish its term without changes. We are the first since the inception of municipalities. I am the first mayor to finish the term, and so are our deputy mayor and speaker. Our accounting officer, the municipal manager, is also the first to finish the term,” he said.

Mthethwa attributed this achievement to collective leadership and cooperation among the municipality’s eight political parties and one independent councillor, emphasising that the stability experienced was the result of a shared commitment.
Despite representing different political parties, he said all councillors strived to serve the people of Mtubatuba, transform the municipality’s image and restore the community’s confidence in local government.
“We are happy we have shown that we can govern under a coalition government and still have a stable municipality. We have not achieved everything we wanted to, but we have achieved a lot, and the work that has been done speaks for itself,” he added.
As the current term draws to a close, Mthethwa acknowledged the contribution of councillors, municipal management and employees in advancing the municipality’s work and serving its communities.
“The true measure of this council’s term is not only the stability it has achieved, but also the trust it has worked to rebuild, the lives it has touched and the foundation it leaves for the future,” he said.
