Matric Class of 2025: Your future starts now

Sappi proudly stands behind the Matric Class of 2025, supporting education from early childhood to matric success. Through training programmes, Typek paper donations, and the Matric Excellence Campaign, Sappi empowers learners across KZN to build brighter futures and strong communities.

As over 800 000 learners across South Africa prepare for the National Senior Certificate exams on 21 October, Sappi proudly stands behind the Matric Class of 2025 — especially those in our neighbouring communities.

Our support begins long before Grade 12. Through TREE, we’ve helped train over 175 early childhood development practitioners in KwaZulu-Natal, many from remote forestry areas, now supporting thousands of young learners in Mandeni, KwaDukuza, Ixopo, Nhlamvini, and Umkomaas.

In 2025, we donated 18 tons of Typek paper — made from renewable sugarcane waste at our Stanger Mill — to 52 schools in the Ilembe region, easing financial pressure and ensuring access to essential learning materials.

We also celebrated academic excellence through our Matric Excellence Campaign, awarding laptop starter packs and vouchers to the 2024 top-performing matrics from local schools. These young achievers represent the promise of what’s possible when talent meets opportunity.

Sappi’s Typek paper donations help learners write their own success stories.

“Supporting education in our communities is a privilege — it’s where the next generation, including the children of our own employees, are building their futures. We believe that strong foundations in learning lead to thriving communities. As these young minds step into the world of work — perhaps even into our industry — we look forward to welcoming their talent and energy.  Best wishes to the Class of 2025 — your journey is just beginning,” said Tebele Makhetha, Head of Corporate Affairs, Sappi SA.

To every learner: we see you, we believe in you, and we’re cheering you on.
