WATCH: Bad weather en route as Pietermaritzburg gets heavy hail

The SA Weather Service's level 2 alert does not include King Cetshwayo, uMkhanyakude and Zululand districts, but wet weather is expected

THE thunder has started rumbling in Empangeni as bad weather makes its way up the north coast, having swept over the southern regions.

As at 1pm today (Monday), a bad thunderstorm with hail was reported from the Pietermaritzburg area, leaving the city and surrounds looking as if snow had fallen.

Strong winds were also reported, making driving dangerous, especially considering the wet roads.

While the SA Weather Service’s level 2 alert for severe thunderstorms does not include the King Cetshwayo, uMkhanyakude or Zululand districts, residents are nevertheless urged to take care on wet roads.
