Alleged baby stealer granted bail, back in court in October

Dube had allegedly stolen the infant, seven days old at the time, from his 17-year-old mother at Mtubatuba.

The 20-year-old who was arrested on 13 September, a day after she allegedly stole a tiny old baby from his unsuspecting teenage mother, is due back in court on 21 October.

This after the suspect, Siphokazi Nqobile Dube appeared at the Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday where she was granted R1500 bail.

Dube had allegedly stolen the infant, seven days old at the time, from his 17-year-old mother at Mtubatuba.

Dube was arrested at Hlabisa Hospital after staff there realised that she fitted the description which was circulating widely on social media, of the suspect clad in a yellow dress.

Following Dube’s arrest, the baby was reunited with his mother.
