WATER SUPPLY: Residents not expected to experience water outage

But City of uMhlathuze says residents should still store some water

THE City of uMhlathuze has clarified Wednesday’s water interruption notice issued by Mhlathuze Water (MW) earlier today (Tuesday).

The municipality said it would continue to supply its customers with water from the Mzingazi Water Treatment Works for the duration of the maintenance which is scheduled to take place from 8am tomorrow until 8am on Thursday.

“It is, therefore, expected that Richards Bay will only experience low water pressure for the duration of the maintenance and that we will not necessarily be without water completely,” said the city.

However, residents are still advised to take the necessary precautions and store water for the duration of the interruption.

MW is scheduled to undertake maintenance on some of its water infrastructure, whereby water supply from the Nsezi Water Treatment Plant will be shut down.

Work includes repairs to an 800 diameter pipeline, as well as the installation of new valves at the Nsezi plant.
