WATCH: University of Zululand students get a taste of the newspaper industry

PR students experience the world of media

EIGHT public relations management students from the University of Zululand (Unizulu) learnt all about the inner workings of the media industry on a visit to the Zululand Observer offices in Empangeni on Thursday.

The third-year students were not only treated to a full experience of how things work within the company, but received a step-by-step guide on the long and intricate process of publishing the newspaper.

The tour began with the students learning about the role of a journalist, then moved on to sub-editors, proofreaders, and the production department where they learnt about newspaper layout.

The day culminated in a full experience at the printing works. This was part of their learning before they graduate and enter the world of work.
