Murder spike concerns ahead of festive season

Following a mass shooting in KZN, Premier Dube-Ncube calls on police to identify crime hot spots

KZN PREMIER Nomusa Dube-Ncube has urged the SAPS to keep their guard up around hot spot areas over the festive period.

“As we approach the festive season, police have been tasked with identifying all crime hot spots as part of our comprehensive Festive Season Integrated Safety Plan, and deploy additional officers to beef-up visibility,” said Premier Dube-Ncube in a statement.

“We will not allow a situation whereby citizens live in fear,” said Premier Dube-Ncube.

She urged community members to work in conjunction with the police and report cases or come forward with information that may assist them.

“Government, business, civil society, including CPFs, need to work together to address criminal activities and instability to ensure a safe society and thriving economy.

“We will never win the war against crime if community members continue to protect criminals.”
