TWO water pumps, worth R1.9-million, are being installed at the Mfolozi river to restore water supply to the Mtubatuba area, which has been disrupted in recent days.
This after the river dried up and the water pumps, used for extraction, broke down.

It is understood that river sand contributed to wear and tear, with the old pumps reaching the end of their lifespan.
uMKhanyakude District Municipality recently implemented water rationing in the area so all residents could have water.
The district is now installing the new pumps as replacements.
“The first pump has been successfully installed. The second pump could not be installed owing to flooding water levels at uMfolozi. As soon as the water comes down, it will be installed,” said Mdaka.
He said installing the new pumps would directly impact water supply to the local communities, and improve in some sections of KwaMsane.
“Some areas are already receiving water,” Mdaka commented.
