Bad weather brewing in parts of Zululand region

King Cetshwayo, uMkhanyakude and Zululand districts are included in the weather warning

THE SA Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a level 2 severe weather warning for parts of KZN for this afternoon and evening (Monday).

The warning is in effect from 2pm to 9pm, and said severe, widespread thunder showers can be expected over northern parts of the province.

SAWS said the thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by heavy downpours, strong, damaging winds, hail and excessive lightning.

“They are expected over the northern interior by late morning, drifting eastwards during the course of the afternoon into early evening,” said SAWS.

Heavy downpours may lead to localised flooding of roads and low-lying bridges; localised damage to infrastructure; severe lightning could result in localised fire incidents, and strong winds could lead to injuries from flying debris.

Affected districts include King Cetshwayo, uMkhanyakude and Zululand.
