WATCH: Motorists escape serious injury in N2 single-vehicle accident

The occupants were taken to a nearby clinic for medical assessment

FIVE occupants, including one child, of a light motor vehicle were lucky to escape without serious injury when their car overturned on the N2 near the Engen filling station south of Empangeni.

They were reportedly travelling on the N2 northbound carriageway when the vehicle veered over the centre median and onto the southbound side.

The accident occurred earlier this afternoon (Thursday).

SAPS, City of uMhlathuze Fire and Rescue, and Mounties Emergency Medical Service were on scene monitoring traffic flow and tending to the occupants.

They were transported to Thokozani Clinic for assessment.

Meanwhile, eShowe RTI responded to reports of a coal truck that overturned and lost its load on the R34 towards Nkwaleni.
