New cop recruits to beef up police on the ground

Mtubatuba experienced a drop in crime compared with 2021 festive season

KWAMSANE and Mtubatuba SAPS have welcomed 31 newly-trained police officers who will beef up boots on the ground.

Welcoming the new recruits, the management of the two police stations encouraged them to excel when performing their duties and always remember that they serve the public and should do so with respect and honesty.

The recruits were further encouraged to be disciplined and to protect the communities they serve while upholding a good image of the SAPS, and further to refrain from being involved in corrupt activities.

KwaMsane SAPS spokesperson Captain Sbusiso Mkhize said the new recruits have been deployed to community service centres, shopping malls, roadblocks and the St Lucia beaches.
“They will increase police visibility under the supervision of highly-experienced police officials,” said Mkhize.

“More boots on the ground for KwaMsane and Mtubatuba SAPS will prevent more serious crimes from being committed, they will assist with investigations of crimes committed and they will create a safer habitat in Mtubatuba and surrounding areas.”

He added that the Christmas long weekend was relatively quiet, with no major reports of concerning crimes.
“Everything was under control; the crime rate went down significantly compared with this time last year. However, during the roadblocks, we arrested several road users who had broken the law.”
