Is the Mosquito the most dangerous creature in the world?

There are about 3 000 species of mosquito in the world, in every climate

THERE is nothing more annoying than the buzzing of a mosquito in your ear when you’re trying to sleep, not to mention the random bitemarks with no culprit.

These blood-sucking ‘vampires’ have been annoying people globally for centuries, and people are beginning to question how dangerous the mosquito is.

There are about 3 000 species of mosquito in the world, in every climate.

They have adapted to all four seasons and can be found breeding in all types of water sources, whether clean or polluted, from small collections of water in tin cans to swimming pools and dams.

“Never leave any stagnant water out, whether in your house or in your yard or swimming pool,” said Nevill Getkate from Zululand Pest Control.

These dangerous creatures carry many tropical diseases to animals and humans, the main one being malaria.

According to statistics, up to two million people die annually from malaria, 440 000 of which are on the African continent.

This alone makes the ‘mozzie’ one of the most dangerous creatures in the world.
