Zululanders urged to support Christmas cheer drive

Be Father Christmas to a child in need this festive season - donate towards the Richards Bay arm of Santa's Shoebox

Marking its 20th anniversary, the annual Santa Shoebox Project is calling on Zululanders to show their support and drop off their Christmas cheer boxes this Friday and Saturday.

The popular South African initiative brings joy to underprivileged and socially vulnerable children, providing them with personalised gift – filled shoeboxes containing essential items such as toiletries, school supplies, clothing, a toy and treats.

With thousands of children looking forward to receiving a box, locals can still pledge their support.

Launched in Cape Town in 2006, the project has grown tremendously and has distributed more than 1.3 million shoeboxes to children across South Africa and Namibia.

Zululand project co-ordinator Khethokuhle Patience Simelane and Jyothika Gungapursat invite locals to pledge their support and help them reach their target.

Members can visit the website on santashoebox.org.za/pledge-a-santa-shoebox/ and register by selecting their beneficiary and adding their details.

For those requiring assistance, call Jyothika Gungapursat on 083 7087066 or WhatsApp Khethokuhle Simelane on 081 4311875.
